For the love of the fast lane

I love Thanksgiving! I love the food, the family, the get-togethers...But I hate the travel! For the last few Thanksgivings our family has gone camping at the beach with my parents. Carlsbad beach is only about 30 minutes away from where we live. It's been nice to wake up in my own bed and just drive to the beach to stuff our faces. This year the beach trip was scrapped for Mexico and Spencer and I didn't want to go. Luckily, one of Spencer's brothers said they would host Thanksgiving this year. The problem? They live in Arizona.

So yesterday we rented our car, packed it up and headed out for the 6 1/2 hour drive. Luckily it didn't take us too long to get out of San Diego and we didn't even hit too much traffic the whole trip. Of course we encountered those dimwits who insist on hanging out in the fast lane even though they are going 15 mph below the flow of traffic. They are the ones who are oblivious to what and who is around them. They hang out in the fast lane and refuse to change lanes even though there is a line of cars behind them. Then, there are the big mac trucks that change lanes super quick and cut you off. They think because they are bigger, that they can just cut right in front of you. Beause they are only going 45 miles an hour you inevitbaly have to slam on your brakes to avoid hitting them. We encountered both of these kind of imbiciles plus more.

The good this is we made it to Arizona without any episodes of road rage. It took a little longer than we hoped, but we all arrived happy and safe. I'm excited to spend the weekend with family and eat lots of good food. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the return trip home...

Happy Thanksgiving!
